Tips for finding flutes:
Flute Purchsing Recommendations For New Students
Good student brands to look for: Haynes, Pearl, Yamaha, Jupiter, Trevor James, Gemeinhardt
If you find a used flute, make sure you play test it before purchasing: you don't want to buy something that isn't playable :)
AVOID: colored flutes and flutes less than $150 new (These flutes aren't the best quality so they don't last for more than a year. It's not a hard no if you want to buy a cheap flute, just know that you will outgrow it quickly).
Music stores like Summerhays and Riverton Music will have rent-to-own options as a lower-cost way to start on a quality instrument.
Club FC is an online store that offers free trials and free shipping on instruments through the link provided. They also sell lots of sheet music!

These flutes are another small flute option for small hands but made out of metal. Only comes with a curved head joint though so it’s made for younger children. I recommend them for ages 4-8
John Packer Child’s flute curved head joint
Mini-Di Di Zhao flute

DZ 100c beginner flute
Jupiter JFL700UE
Urbano beginner double head joint
AVOID: colored flutes, flutes that don’t come with a curved head joint (unless your arms are long enough for a straight head joint, usually starts for kids around age 9), and flutes less than $150 new (you might be able to find some used, but make sure it’s playable before you purchase it).
